Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1: US / Beijing

Fly to Beijing, China.

Day 2: Arrive in Beijing, transferred to the flight to Kunming.

Our tour guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to the hotel.

Day 3:Kunming / Stone Forest / Kunming

Visit Stone Forest, one of China's most remarkable natural phenomena. Towering peaks of bizarre shaped limestone, some are as high as a 6 story building, cover an area of over 200 acres. A 1.2 mile long path winds through the deepest portion of the forest where one can see pavilions, caves and ponds each with its legend. Then visit Daguanlou Park and Dianchi Lake in Kunming City.

Day 4: Kunming / Dali

Take a private bus to Dali (4 hours), the Capital of ancient Nanzhao and Dali Kingdoms. Visit the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, 9th century examples of the architectural art and culture of the Bai ethnic group. Dinner is served with Shaguoyu (Sand Pot Fish) and other local flavors.

Day 5: Dali / Lijiang

Take a two hour cruise on scenic Erhai Lake to enjoy its alpine setting. Dali is the home of Bai people.Visit Jin Suo Isle, which is a Bai minority fishing village and colorful market. Then drive to Lijiang. Take a walking tour of the ancient Dayan Town, a UNESCO world heritage site, where the houses are wood-and-earth structures with tiled roofs and flower-filled courtyards.

Day 6: Lijiang

Visit the Mu Family Mansion. Then visit Black Dragon Pool with its Moon Embracing Pavilion, Five Phoenix Pavilio and Dongba Cultural Village.

Day 7: Lijiang / Shangri-la

Drive to Shangri-la, which is called the "Eden in dream". It first appeared in British novelist James Hilton's ‘Lost Horizon’ in 1939. Along the ancient Tea & Horse trade track, it is a beautiful 100 mile drive via Tiger Leaping Gorge, the No. 1 Gorge of Yangtze River. Visit Napa Lake upon arrival.

Day 8: Shangri-la / Chengdu

Visit Songzanlin Monastery. It’s architecture exemplifies the features of the Tibetan style. Then Visit Potatso National Park. Bitahai Lake, famous for its limpid water and beautiful sceneries. Fly to Chengdu at night. (You would spend tonight in Shangri-la if you were taking Extension A. )

Day 9: Chengdu / US

Fly back to the US via Beijing. Or continue with the following Optional Extensions (You can chooseany one or two or all of them) .

Day 9: Chengdu / Lhasa

Fly to Lhasa. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon around the hotel.

Day 10: Lhasa

Visit the Potala Palace, built in the 17th century. It took 7,000 workers and 1,500 artists and craftsmen more than 50 years to build it. It is thelargest lamasery in the world. Then visit the 1,300-year-old Jokhang Temple , where you are likely to see Buddhist pilgrims making clockwise circuits on their hands and knees in reverence to one of Tibet 's most sacred sites. Then have a Walking along Barkhor Bazaar, experience the Tibetan culture and buy colorful ethnic handicrafts.

Day 11: Lhasa / Chengdu

Visit Drepung Monastery, one of the "great three" Gelukpa university monasteries of Tibet. Then visit Norbulingka, served as the traditional summer residence of the successive Dalai Lamas. Fly to Chengdu in the late afternoon.

Day 12: Chengdu / US

Sent to the airport to fly home.

Optional Extension B: Jiuzhaigou

Prices: March to July: $999; Augest to November: $1299 (The price includes Chengdu/Jiuzhaigou flights. )

Day 9: Chengdu / Huanglong / Jiuzhaigou National Park

Fly to Jiuzhaigou, visit Mt. Huanglong. The colorful lakes on the mountain form the shape of a dragon.

Day 10: Jiuzhaigou

Visit Jiuzhaigou National Park. It has ribboned lakes and fingery waterfalls, underneath escarpments chevroned with maple, spruce, or bamboo forests cut by the talus of old landslides.

Day 11: Jiuzhaigou / Chengdu

Fly to Chengdu, enjoy a free afternoon walk around the hotel.

Day 12: Chengdu / US

The tour guide will send you to the airport to fly home.

Optional Extension C: Guilin- Yangshuo - Guangzhou + $848 (The price includes the connecting flights.)

Day 9: Chengdu / Guillin

Free in the morning. Then fly to Guilin in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Guilin / Yangshuo

Marvel at the dream-like landscapes on your Li River cruise. Enjoy a relax lunch on the boat. Arrive Yangshuo town in the afternoon. Then visit Yangshuo Bazaar and Xijie (West Street). Tonight’s dinner is on your own, you can try the local specialties like beer fish and shatian shaddocks at the restaurants on West Street.

Day 11: Guilin / Guangzhou

Visit the Reed Flute Cave. Then fly to Guangzhou, visit Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
