Day By Day Itinerary
Day 1: USA / Beijing
Fly to Beijing, the capital of China.
[Meals: in-flight dinner, breakfast and lunch]
Day 2: Arrive Beijing, transfered to the flight to Xining
Our tour guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to the hotel.

Day 3: Xining / Qinghai - Tibet train to Lhasa at night
Visit Kumbum Monastery, the birthplace of Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Then visit Qinghai Lake, the largest lake in China. Board the train to Lhasa after dinner.

Day 4: On the train, arrive Lhasaa at night
Enjoy the marvelous views. The train line includes the Tanggula Pass, 16,640 feet above sea level, the world's highest rail track. The Fenghuoshan tunnel is the highest rail tunnel in the world, known as the nearest door to the heaven. Arrive Lhasa at night. Check in the best hotel.

Day 5: Lhasa
Visit the Potala Palace, built in the 17th century. It took 7,000 workers and 1,500 artists and craftsmen more than 50 years to build the adjoining White and Red Palaces. It is the largest lamasery in the world. Then visit the 1,300 year old Jokhang Temple , where you are likely to see Buddhist pilgrims making clockwise circuits on their hands and knees in reverence to one of Tibet 's most sacred sites. Then have a Walking along Barkhor Bazaar, experience the Tibetan culture and buy colorful ethnic handicrafts.

Day 6: Lhasa / Yamdrok Lake / Shigatse
Visit Yamdrok, one of four particularly holy lakes, thought to be divinatory; everyone from the Dalai Lama to local villagers make pilgrimages there. Reach Shigatse in the afternoon.

Day 7: Shigatse / Lhasa
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by Gendun Drup, the First Dalai Lama, is a historic and culturally important monastery. Then drive back to Lhasa. Then visit a Tibetan family.

Day 8: Lhasa / Chengdu
Visit Drepung monastery, which is the largest of all Tibetan monasteries. Then visit Norbulingka, which is a palace and surrounding park in Lhasa, served as the traditional summer residence of the successive Dalai Lamas. Fly to Chengdu in the late afternoon.
